With an investment that exceeds 997 million dollars, the Ministry of Education (Meduca) has designed an ambitious Maintenance, Infrastructure and Projects Plan for 2025. These programs, which will have a great positive impact on official education, are focused on attention on several fronts: intervention, construction, rehabilitation and modernization of educational structures in the 16 school regions, with the aim of improving the conditions of educational centers, for our students, teachers, administrators and the population in general.
Engineering and Infrastructure 2025
Promoting an adequate and safe environment for the academic development of the educational community, the ministry executes projects in 94 educational centers with an investment of approximately 379 million 182 thousand 427 dollars and 16 cents ($379,182,427.16).
The projects are developed in 15 schools in Bocas del Toro, three in Chiriquí, 19 in Coclé, five in Colón, one in Guna Yala, 19 in the Ngäbe-Buglé region, one in Darién, four in Herrera. In addition, one in Panama East, seven in Panama Central, 15 in Panama North, three in Panama West, 15 in San Miguelito and 13 in Veraguas.
Meanwhile, 15 projects are in the design phase and another 17 are in public events, with an investment of 70 million 992 thousand 81 dollars and 26 cents ($70,992,081.26).
Regarding the attention of students from 10 schools that are in projects, the rental of seven structures in Panama Center, one in San Miguelito, Los Santos and Chiriquí has been managed for more than 2 million 99 thousand 208 dollars and 44 cents ( 2,099,208.44)
National Maintenance Directorate
The National Maintenance Directorate has launched the 2025 Summer Plan in more than 1,089 educational centers in the 16 school regions, so that 421,176 students enrolled in these schools receive, under adequate conditions, the maintenance process. teaching – learning.
To date, interventions have been completed in 173 schools, while 833 are in programming.
Of the intervened schools, around 107 have been carried out by 1,625 prisoners, thanks to the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministries of Government and Education.
Activities that benefit the educational community are carried out in the regions of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Central Panama, West, North and San Miguelito, with activities that include interior and exterior painting, roof repair, electricity and plumbing. In addition to cleaning the structures and green areas.
The investments will also be distributed in several key projects to eliminate the 521 ranch classrooms and 466 mixed schools, that is, ranch and cement structures that total 984.
The approach plan for these areas is the creation of Educational Feeder Networks, for this, area studies are carried out to develop primary and secondary schools by circuit, in addition, middle level schools will be placed to serve the entire population so that they can complete the school year.
Special Projects
Tender for water tanks: more than 19,526 students benefited from the placement of 18 water reservoirs in the educational region of San Miguelito.
New structures: approximately 4,205 students begin the school year in new infrastructures.
New school facilities and projections: the ministry has planned four new schools, two in Panamá Oeste (El Arado and Puerta del Mar); one in Panama East (Hacienda Santa Cecilia) and one in Chiriquí (Los Algarrobos School). The beneficiary student population exceeds 2,500 students. The projections contemplate four schools in Veraguas, Panama North, East and West
Adjustments in educational centers: More than 12,087 students benefited from 11 new adaptations
Water harvesting in regions: About six projects are developed in Ngäbe Buglé, four in Guna Yala and five in Emberá Wounaan, which impacts around 4,357 students in these areas.
