The Afghan authorities raised this Wednesday to 920 the number of deaths and more than 600 those injured by the earthquake of 5.9 degrees recorded last night in eastern Afghanistan, as the search for survivors in the biggest catastrophe since the Taliban came to power.
The new number of deaths and injuries in the earthquake that affected above all two provinces in eastern Afghanistan, on the border with Pakistan, It was facilitated at a press conference by the Deputy Minister for Disaster Management, Mawlavi Sharfuddin Muslim.

The earthquake was recorded on Tuesday night about 46 kilometers from the city of Khostnear the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), which also reported a 4.5 degree aftershock.

“Last night, four districts of Paktika province: Gyan, Naka, Barmal and Zherokas well as the Spera district of Khost and the surrounding areas, suffered death and serious injuries,” cites the tweet that shares a video of the affected area.
For now relief work continues and according to the authorities the number of victims will increase drastically as the damage is devastating.
