The National Traffic Security Directorate of the Police detained 860 people in 15 days for driving without a license, confirmed General Commissioner Jaime Vanegas, in his weekly report on the Road Emergency Plan.
Last week the number of people arrested for driving without documents stood at 432, a considerably high number, taking into account that it was the first time this measure was taken, and in just seven days it doubled.
All of these citizens, if they repeat this offense, would be detained for a period of up to 72 hours and the Police would reserve the right to file a criminal case for exposing people to danger, according to the repressive institution.

«Catch up, regularize your situation, renew your license, if your license is suspended, look for a driver; If you don’t have a license, it’s better not to drive,” Vanegas warned.
More than 30 thousand licenses suspended in 2024

So far in 2024, according to Vanegas, the institution has suspended 36,876 driver’s licenses and arrested 5,359 drivers who were behind the wheel while intoxicated.
