On the afternoon of this Thursday, May 19, the Department of Epidemiology of the Minsa details that Panama has 821,500 accumulated confirmed cases of Covid-19, of which 3,842 are new positive cases. In the last hours, 17,541 tests were applied, which is equivalent to a positivity rate of 22%.
No deaths are reported for this day; the country has a cumulative of 8,211 deaths for a fatality rate of 1.0%.
The number of recovered people amounts to 783,811 with 1,707 new recoveries who were discharged today.
There are 29,478 active cases throughout the country, of which 29,239 are in home isolation and 239 hospitalized. Those in isolation are divided into 29,158 at home and 81 in hotels. Those hospitalized are 204 in the Ward and 35 in the ICU.
The districts with the highest number of cases reported today are: Juan Díaz 123 and San Francisco 105, in Panama City; Rufina Alfaro in San Miguelito 103; Penonomé, Coclé 101 and Bella Vista in the capital district with 92 cases.
Vaccination report: 8.1 million doses applied
The Expanded Program on Immunization reveals that a total of 8,174,516 doses of vaccines against Covid-19. Of them, 3,473,940 they have been applied in the first dose; 3,095,904 in second dose and 1,555,436 booster dose.
In addition, the report specifies that 2,826 fourth doses and 11,214 third doses have been placed in immunosuppressed patients.
The coverage of the population over 5 years of age is 87.5% with one dose and 78% with a second dose. The coverage of the population over 16 years of age with a third dose is 49.5%
In the population between 5 and 11 years old, 421,598 pediatric doses. This population reaches a coverage of 53.5% with the first dose.
