More than 70,000 people have been assisted in “First You” sessions

Bonao, Monsignor Nouel.- Teenager César Luis Soto, 14, who suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, better known as “crystal bone”, and to whom Minister Neney Cabrera promised to deliver a special chair for his mobility and to cover the cost of his treatment, he is one of the more than 70,000 people who this year have benefited from the journeys of social inclusion “First You”, which is developed throughout the country by the Directorate of Strategic Projects and Special Programs of the Presidency (propep).

Marianela Guadalupe Soto, the teenager’s mother, who attended this Friday’s meeting in Bonao, Monseñor Nouel province, told Minister Cabrera the hardships she has faced, since the minor’s condition is congenital and since birth she has not been able to provide them with their medicines, because she is a single mother and cannot work full time.

After hearing his story, the Propeep minister instructed that through the National Disability Council (Conadis), the minor be given a special chair to help him with his mobility and the medications he needs for his condition.

The teenager, who is in the fifth grade of primary school, instructed that he be given a tablet for his studies and promised his mother a job, so that she can cover household expenses and live in a dignified way.

After listening to the words of Minister Neney Cabrera, Guadalupe Soto could not contain her joy, because she will no longer have to see her son suffer moments of pain, without being able to supply him with his medicines.

Neney Cabrera said that these benefits of the “First You” sessions are thanks to the fact that President Luis Abinader has focused his efforts on working to dignify the quality of life of the people, especially those who live in conditions of vulnerability.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder characterized, in most cases, by an alteration in collagen formation, which gives it greater bone fragility and risk of fractures.
