The thirty-eighth edition of EXPOCOMER 2022, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), opened its doors today, at the Panama Convention Center in Amador, with the participation of almost 600 companies seeking to establish business contacts among the business sectors of almost 30 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia.
The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, also recognized the importance of this fair event and assured that the strength of our economy has been recognized by international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He highlighted that for the year 2022 the prospects for economic growth are around 8%.
He assured that the inauguration of the thirty-eighth Expocomer fair represents a sign of optimism, hope and progress in the country’s economic recovery, marked by 15% growth at the end of 2021, which translates into more jobs and better opportunities for the population.
“EXPOCOMER 2022 takes place within the framework of a year in which the world is going through a recovery process, after the international health crises due to Covid-19. In Panama, we are trying to overcome the crisis by finding opportunities in it and today we continue working for a country that achieves long-term sustainable development”, said Jose Ramón Icaza, president of the CCIAP.
Similarly, he stressed that “Panama is the ideal place to grow, strengthen business and promote trade between the business sectors of all countries, so our union is proud to host fairs of this quality and significance. , which will take place on the same date to show the world that our country is prepared to receive international events within the same first-world convention center, and what better opportunity than this to see it function at its full capacity with Expocomer, Expo Logística Panama and International Tourism Expo”.
