Teachers from the regions of Ancash, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Ica, Jaen, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Metropolitan Lima, Lima Region, Moquegua, Piura, Puno, Tacna participated in the training, which took place over five days in Chaclacayo. and San Martin. The teachers are part of the global educational program “Committed to Education” of Fundación Telefónica Movistar and Fundación la Caixa.

“The participating teachers were selected from more than 800 educational institutions in the country. They stand out for their leadership, organization, use of technological resources, good practices, and commitment to transform their schools.” highlighted Lillian Moore, manager of educational projects at Fundación Telefónica Movistar.

Leading teachers

The teachers Adelina Condori from school 38267 “San Francisco de Asis” (Ayacucho) and María Teresa Cornejo from IE 41019 “República de Venezuela” (Arequipa) are examples of teachers who are committed to improving teaching in their schools with the use of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom.

In the 2022 school year, Condori used a robotics kit of more than 800 parts for his math classes. In this way, his students reinforced their abilities to add, subtract, multiply, divide and create their own figures with the pieces and also elaborate stories.

For her part, Professor Cornejo, together with her primary students, created a prototype of an interactive robot -using Lego pieces, software and electronic plates-, which can carry out various didactic activities such as drawing, writing letters, numbers and even dancing. .

“I encourage my students to continue learning, to research and to suggest technological solutions,” says the teacher from Arequipa, who at the “National Meeting of Leading Teachers” enhanced her knowledge of Artificial Intelligence by learning to use educational platforms based on this revolutionary technology.

AI platforms

At the meeting, the education specialists from Fundación Telefónica presented two educational platforms based on Artificial Intelligence: The “Mathematics” platform that helps teachers personalize the classroom experience, define teaching routes according to pedagogical needs and the level of knowledge of their students, as well as measuring progress in learning mathematics.

Another AI-based platform that was presented was “Computational Thinking”, which consists of 48 learning experiences adapted to the national science education curriculum under the STEAM approach.

“With these platforms, we seek to continue promoting the leadership capacity, as well as the educational and technological skills of teachers across the country,” Moore highlighted.

The Data

In 2023, the Fundación Telefónica and Fundación ‘la Caixa’ “Committed to Education” program will benefit more than 650,000 schoolchildren and 40,000 teachers from all regions of the country.
