More than 6 thousand dead by earthquake that affected Turkey and Syria

The Turkish and Syrian authorities updated the death toll from the powerful earthquake that occurred early Monday morning, which has left total devastation in the affected areas.

Turkey’s medical services said Tuesday that so far there are 4,544 deaths, while Syrian authorities confirmed 1,782 deaths, both countries are fighting against time to save people who are still trapped in the rubble of buildings that collapsed due to quake.

The Turkish government announced a 3-month state of emergency in all the affected provinces and did not rule out extending it for the whole year in order to help the devastated areas.

While hundreds of rescue workers from all over the world continue to arrive in Turkey to assist in the rescue efforts, in the case of Syria, the German government has asked European nations to pressure the Syrian regime to allow humanitarian aid in.
