They return to classes at the Faculty of Medicine
Yesterday, the management of the Faculty of Medicine reported that after progress in the eight points of the students’ request list, 67.9 percent of the students voted for the return to classes on Wednesday, November 19, which will be “respectful and free of adverse consequences,” the authorities assured.
Likewise, they pointed out that “no student may be subject to sanctions, discrimination or academic, administrative, physical, moral, psychological or legal harm for their participation in the student movement.”
In addition, he recommended that teachers be empathetic and respectful with students, as well as provide well-being and healthy coexistence within the classroom; Also, maintain the delivery of practical topics and activities as scheduled before the movement.
Disagreement in Accounting
In contrast, last night, students from the Faculty of Accounting and Administration (FCA) delivered a letter to the Rector’s Office to demand the dismissal of its director, Armando Tomé González, who yesterday “unilaterally” and without any agreement with the unemployed students, issued a statement indicating that online classes were resumed yesterday, although the facilities remain taken by the students, since it has not been agreed to lift the strike that began on October 24.
When the statement was released, the FCA students were surprised by this decision that was not agreed upon by both parties, so yesterday they held an assembly: then they carried out a peaceful march through Ciudad Universitaria to arrive at the Rectorate building after 6 in the afternoon.
There they were received by Jaime Revah Peralta, deputy director of Analysis and Interpretation of the Secretariat of Prevention and Support for University Mobility and Security, and the deputy director of Concertation of the same secretariat, Sergio Luis Gutiérrez Mancilla, who listened to their demand, but clarified that they cannot do anything about director Tomé’s decision, since that is the decision of the faculty.
