This Tuesday, the Ministry of Education sent a technical commission to the municipality of Boca Chica to investigate why the authorities of the María Trinidad Sánchez school suspended teaching without consultation, “until further notice,” affecting more than 500 students.
Without prior notice, the parents of the students received a statement from the educational establishment, informing them that they would no longer be able to receive the children, because they did not have adequate infrastructure or personnel for cleaning.
The Ministry’s commission is headed by Irá Oscar Amagós, Vice Minister of Supervision and Control of Educational Quality.

The investigation will revolve mainly around information that indicates that the document sent to parents to inform them about the closure of teaching is signed by the Boca Chica section of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP). “It is a great abuse by the ADP in Boca Chica,” the Ministry told the media.
The state institution described the decision as abusive, arguing that now parents will not have a place to send their children to receive teaching.
“It is really a great abuse against the poorest children, who are prevented from having a timely education and the benefit of daily food.”
There are no excuses
“Parents are prevented from going to work calmly, taking into account that these are basic level students, who need more care,” he said.
“The most affected are the almost 600 children who were left on the streets and without a space to receive the bread of education.”
He Ministry of Education argues that the physical conditions of a school are not excuses to close it, if there is no prior decision from the highest authorities of that agency.
In a document delivered to the parents of the school, it states that “the school remains very poorly cleaned, the bathrooms are undisinfected, smelly and poorly sanitized.”
He adds that “the classrooms do not have constant cleaning, and an unhygienic environment is perceived in them to teach classes, reasons why they are forced to abandon teaching.
