More than 50% of Peruvian companies use AI to improve their productivity

More than 50% of large Peruvian companies They already use artificial intelligence. This is what the experts stated referring to the improvement of productivity through AI, in the UNIR FORUM organized by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR).

During this virtual event last Thursday, January 16, with more than 2,000 registered, the majority Peruvian, the focus was on how the artificial intelligence optimizes efficiency in an increasingly competitive market. Tools like Copilot from Microsoft and ChatGPT from OpenAI They are available to everyone, but engineers and programmers have a crucial role in implementing AI solutions.

Luis Miguel Garay, director of Computer Science and Technology at the Higher School of Engineering and Technology (ESIT), highlighted that “artificial intelligence allows us to do more with fewer resources, improving productivity and quality of work. The trend of companies is going to accelerate the adoption of AI and gradually use it more intensively.”

Ignacio Melero Miguel, AI for Digital Native Startups and Unicons for Europe and Africa at Microsoft, and teacher at UNIR, shared his knowledge about the use of AI in the business field. “It is essential that professionals are trained in the use of AI tools to be able to take full advantage of their potential,” he said.

Cybersecurity and automation

Cybersecurity was also a key topic addressed. Diego Cubas, president of Cornerstone for Latin America, left revealing statistics on the table: “90% of the most important corporations is going to include cybersecurity in its directory“. Likewise, he highlighted how technology is transforming sectors such as mining, agriculture and health. It will also be necessary to have technological profiles in these fields.

Walter Vega, master in AI and UNIR alumni, shared his experience in automating pprocesses using software-based RPA technology. “We are currently developing the combination of RPA with artificial intelligence and machine learning to overcome the main obstacles in process automation,” he explained.

The participants in FORO UNIR highlighted the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in Peru and the challenges and opportunities that this entails. Thus they debated resistance to change and the need for continuous training. “The adoption of this technology has been one of the fastest in history, reaching 100 million users in a matter of months“Remarked Melero Miguel.

Vision of the academy

Experts noted that artificial intelligence not only transforms the way we work, but also the skills needed. According to the World Economic Forum, it is expected that by 2030 there will be 180 million new jobs related to technology.

In this sense, UNIR offers various degrees in artificial intelligence and big data, preparing for the challenges of the future and in order to ensure employability in a competitive market. “The employability rate for professionals trained in these fields at the International University of La Rioja is close to 98%,” mentioned Luis Miguel Garay.

During the course of the event, its spirit of connecting current affairs and topics of interest to society with academia was revealed, to generate shared knowledge. Ultimately, UNIR FORUM was developed as a virtual space for debate and reflection where it meant the artificial intelligence as a technological reality growing and essential driver for productivity in companies, both private and public, in Peru, with a determining impact on the labor market and vocational training
