An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 in Indonesia that occurred on the morning of this Monday, November 21, in the province of West Java, in Indonesia, caused the death of at least 55 people and another 700 were injured in that island territory, which It has almost 50 million people.
The earthquake, which had a depth of approximately 10 kilometers, had its epicenter near the city of Cianjur, about 100 kilometers southeast of Jakarta. The head of the administration of the affected metropolis, Herman Suherman, reported that most of the injured have a fracture.
However, he warned that the numbers may increase because many victims from various parts of the city arrive at health centers, especially the Sayang hospital.

The local press reports that several shops, a hospital and an Islamic boarding school in the city suffered major damage during the quake. In addition, the electricity supply in the area was interrupted, which leaves the inhabitants of that area of Indonesia partially cut off.

The head of the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, suggested this Monday from Parliament to citizens to remain in the open air in case more aftershocks are registered, while the authorities coordinate efforts to review the extent of the damage.
In Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, the earthquake was felt. Many people evacuated office buildings in the business area. However, no injuries or major damage were reported.
