More than 40 Christmas basket products, including sweet breads, puddings, caramelized nougats, ciders and champagne, are included under the Fair Prices program, an initiative that freezes the prices of more than 1,900 basic basket products until the end of February, through through voluntary agreements reached by the Government with producing and marketing companies.
Among other products that can be purchased in supermarkets and wholesalers to accompany Christmas Eve and New Year’s dinners are puddings and sweet breads.
SWEET TABLE
Fair Prices includes six sweet breads, either with fruit, without fruit or with chocolate chips, and 16 puddings, including marbled, vanilla, whole banana or filled with dulce de leche, among other varieties.
As examples of valid prices for the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, the Día supermarket offers its own brand bread without fruits at $695.76; with chocolate at 986.97; with fruits at $995.76 and panettone at $1038.96, while sweet bread is also available cuquets with fruits at $518.96.
Among the puddings are those of leading brands such as Bimbo between $270 and $291.20, and those of 9 gold with a price range of between $248.60 and $260.
For those looking to save, you can purchase the Puddings Cañuelaswith its chocolate and marbled variety at $151.52, or the vanilla with dulce de leche at $168.63.
The sweet table can be completed with sugared caramels (the Day ones are sold for $130 while the Georgalos one is available for $234) or with the classic Mantecol, whose 253-gram container is available for $707.20.
Fair Prices also includes several varieties of almonds: the great value (own brand of the ChangoMás chain) of 100 grams are obtained at $376.92 and the Delicious brand at $446.16.
Nougats are also available from the Dia and Georgalos brands whose prices are between $140.40 and $411.84, depending on the variety and size.
DRINKS
Finally, at the time of the toast, the list includes various options of ciders for all kinds of pockets: from 910 milliliters of La Farruca to $550, white label of the same brand of 710 ml. at $499, Day brand of 710 ml. at $362; and the “premium” private vintage of the 1950 brand of 750 ml. at $1,030.
Outside of cider, a pineapple fizz from La Farruca is also included for $575 and Chateau Mendoza champagne for $859.
