Again, unemployed and retired teachers, they left demanding the increase in their pensions that, in most, reaches 300 soles. Amount that is insignificant to be able to live dignity, since, the cost of the basic food basket, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), with figures from 2024, reached 256 soles per person.
“We have hunger pensions that are S/300 and in the best case S/800. What person could live with that amount? As teachers we cannot survive that way. In Congress, initiative has been given to 11 bills, so that the pension of a unemployment is equivalent to the first scale of an activity teacher,” mentioned the Secretary of Defense of Arcije Junín, César Aguilar.
The march scheduled by the unemployed, was of Preventive Manea, for today another national mobilization was also announced, where active teachers of the National Federation of Education Workers of Peru (Fenateperú) will be added.
“On June 5, it was approved in the first vote of the Congress. The bill is on the agenda of the plenary so that it is debated and the pension is one, not as now that 40% of the ceasers receive S/300, another equal percentage between S/400, S/500 and S/600, while few are with S/700 and S/800 Aguilar added.
According to the INEI with figures from the year 2024, the basic food basket for each person increased in 2024 in S/5.00, reaching the figure of S/256, not counting other needs that must be covered in an older adult such as medicines and supplements.
