Authorities make an urgent call to those who have yet to claim their ID.

On the occasion of the Congressional elections of the Republic and the consultation of political groups scheduled for next March 8, the National Registry of Civil Status announced the temporary suspension of civil registration and identification services in all its offices in the country.
The measure will take effect from this Wednesday, March 4, and will extend until March 11. According to the entity, the decision seeks to guarantee the proper organization and development of the electoral process throughout the national territory.
Delivery of ID cards will go until March 6
Although the procedures will be suspended, the delivery of identity documents will continue to be enabled until Friday, March 6 at noon.
Currently, 350,636 citizenship cards remain pending to be claimed in different regions of the country. The entity made an urgent call to citizens to come and collect their document, taking into account that it is the only valid one to exercise the right to vote.
When do services resume?
The Registry Office reported that all civil registration and identification services will be restored to normal on Thursday, March 12.
Customer service will return to its usual hours, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, at all locations in the country.
