Las Americas Airport. – More than 30 flights with origin and destination in different cities in the United States were canceled at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA), José Francisco Peña Gómez, due to the strong snow storm that affects several areas of the North American territory, causing significant interruptions in international air traffic.
According to a report issued by AERODOM, corresponding to January 24, 25 and 26, 2026, multiple operations were suspended on routes to and from cities such as New York (JFK), Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR) and Miami (MIA).
Among the affected airlines are JetBlue, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Arajet, Frontier and American Airlines, whose flights were canceled both in arrivals and departures from the Las Américas terminal.
Most of the suspensions correspond to connections with JFK and Newark airports, in New York and New Jersey, as well as Boston, areas severely impacted by the winter storm.
On January 24, the first cancellations were reported, while the largest number of affected flights occurred on the 25th and 26th.
The storm has caused heavy snowfall, ice accumulation on runways and severe operational restrictions at US airports, forcing airlines to suspend flights for safety reasons.
However, it is expected that air operations at Las Américas Airport will gradually begin to resume as of this afternoon, as weather conditions in the United States improve and services in the affected terminals normalize.
Aerodom recommended passengers check the status of their flights directly with their airlines before going to the airport.
