About 35 people were already relieved and will begin to receive materials to repair ceilings, windows and walls of their houses.
The municipality of Nueva Palmira this Monday, October 6, received neighbors whose homes were affected by the strong storm of rain and wind that hit the city in the early hours of Sunday 5. The instance, convened by the local authorities, was developed in the municipal facilities and had the participation of technicians of the Social Action Directorate of the Intendencia de Colonia, in charge of the survey of damage.
As reported by Mayor Andrés Passarino to El Eco, “there were about 35 people who attended, and some more surely will attend, because that always happens, that they find out late and others.” All cases presented refer to structural damage to homes: roof blasting, window break, fall of walls and other significant destruction.
During the day, the team of social workers managed to make the survey in about 25 homes, while the rest is expected to be completed – around 10 cases – in the next few days.
As an immediate support measure, the Intendance “will begin in the next few hours with the delivery of materials to the victims”, prioritizing the most urgent cases, especially those with compromised ceilings. “They are plates, braces, nails, nails. In some cases it can be some prest that must be built,” said the mayor.
It is urged from the municipal council that those who have not yet been submitted and suffered damage, to do so shortly to access the available assistance.
