More than 25,000 people are expected on Iemanjá's Day in Arpoador

More than 25,000 people are expected in the third edition of Iemanjá Day at Arpoador Beach, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, this Sunday (2) February, from 8am to 10pm. The free event will host Afoxé Filhos de Gandhi, the Caboclo Samba Project and the singer and songwriter, Pretinho da Serrinha, among other attractions.More than 25,000 people are expected on Iemanjá's Day in Arpoador

Surfers who frequent Arpoador beach will come with flowers as an offering to the Sea Queen at 5 pm. At the same time, 150 Umbanda from ten terreiros from the Rio Metropolitan Region will be in the sands of Arpoador, giving passes to those who want to receive axé.

“In addition to promoting integration between people of all creeds, colors and regions of the city, and praise the culture of such powerful and at the same time attacked African matrix, the event will generate more jobs and currency for the city through tourism.” , said the creator of the celebration, Marcos André.

The organizers remember that the event remains aligned with the sustainability and preservation of the seas and alerts visitors to only take offerings of biodegradable material. In the end, the audience will be invited to make a task force to clean the sand, boardwalk and stone of the Arpoador.

The day before, February 1, from 18h, there will be the washing of Arpoador, under the leadership of Afoxé Filhos de Gandhi.
