Despite the fact that the Internet has become an indispensable tool for carrying out both work and study activities, in Argentina most of the schools public do not have this service.
According to official data from the Ministry of Education, of the 51,745 schools public that the country has, 24,394 do not have an internet connection, which is equivalent to 47% of educational establishments.
Although in more than 27 thousand schools they do have the service, that not all institutions have internet is worrying because, today, many academic activities are carried out virtually after the coronavirus pandemic.
This added to the structural problems that many establishments have due to lack of maintenance, makes it difficult for students to learn, since without the necessary conditions a quality education cannot be provided.
According to the study, in the province of Buenos Aires 6,896 do not have connectivity, while the figure in Santa Fe reaches 2,611; in Chaco, to 2,077, in Santiago del Estero, to 1,801; Formosa, at 1,441, and Tucumán at 1,123.
This situation affects 2,413,698 students across the country and, although the Government is working to guarantee the connection in all institutions, many are still without the service.
Although the problem occurs throughout the national territory, the institutions in the provinces of Formosa, Chaco and Santiago del Estero they have the greatest connectivity problems.
The Government has not yet delivered more than 100 thousand computers of the 500 thousand that it promised
During 2021, President Alberto Fernández promised that 500,000 computers would be delivered to all schools public of the country; however, to date only 390 thousand have been delivered.
This means that it is necessary to distribute 110 thousand computers in the institutions. In addition, the president also promised to buy a million more computers for teachers, which not only have not been delivered, but the suppliers have not been paid.
