More than 21,000 families in remote areas accessed energy

The Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions for Non-Interconnected Zones, Ipse, reported to the country on its management and achievements during the last year in a Public Audit of Accountability that was held in the municipality of Uribía (La Guajira).

The director of the entity, José David Insuasti, during his speech the official recalled that his office in Last year 21,445 new families located in Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI) were connected to the electric power service with individual photovoltaic solutions.

Of these new users, 9,769 are in the Amazon region, consolidating this part of the country as one of the leaders in terms of renewable energy and allowing departments such as Guainía to reach a coverage percentage of over 80%. “We aspire at the end of this Government to reach 95% coverage”, affirmed the director of Ipse.

Likewise, it was also possible to bring energy to 3,765 families in the Orinoquia and Centro region. As well as other 5,006 households located in the ZNI of the Caribbean region.

For their part, 2,905 families located in the Pacific region and the department of Antioquia, managed to access energy services and today they are part of the thousands of families that have managed to close the energy gap in their regions.

Regarding the optimization of the available assets, a task that allowed the improvement of the infrastructure with which it is provided the electric power service to ensure that 6,924 families living in the Pacific and Caribbean regions could have this service for a greater number of hours a day.

Ipse recently signed six inter-administrative contracts to bring service to 12,081 families that do not have electricity in non-interconnected areas and that will allow another 3,340 families to benefit from the improvement (greater number of hours) of the service they already have.
