More than 20,000 Venezuelans abroad updated their information to vote in primaries

More than 20,000 Venezuelans abroad updated their information to vote in primaries

The National Primary Commission (CP) enabled a web page for Venezuelans abroad to update their data and join an alternate electoral registry to that of the National Electoral Council (CNE), with the purpose of participating in the primaries

After a week of being activated, the web application enabled for updating data for Venezuelans abroad to participate in the opposition primaries scheduled for October 22, more than 20,000 registrations are registered.

The National Primary Commission (CP) disseminated the information and recalled that it is planned to organize the event in 81 cities. In each of them, a minimum of 300 voters is needed to enable voting in those locations, an amount that has already been met in 20 cities.

“Up to now, in twenty, of the 81 cities, the minimum of 300 registrations for the constitution of voting centers on election day has been met. We can also tell you that Santiago de Chile, Lima, Bogotá, Madrid, Medellín, Quito, Buenos Aires and Miami stand out in the list of cities with the largest entries for data updating,” reported Ismael Pérez Vigil, a member of the CP and the Support Commission for Voting Abroad.

The Web pagecreated by the National Primary Commission to facilitate the participation of compatriots who emigrated to other countries, has efficiently met the objective of receiving and safely storing the information of those who, being of legal age and registered in the Electoral Registry Venezuelans, they could not participate in other processes because there were no channels to update their residence information.

The process to update this information in the web application is simple, if the voter follows the steps indicated by the Support Commission for Voting Abroad and the National Primary Commission. It is also fast, thanks to the fact that it has Artificial Intelligence (AI) elements, which allow the system to process text and images at a rate of one per second, according to technical advisors from the Primary School. However, and as a mechanism to reinforce the system, behind the platform there is also a human validation team that is in charge of reviewing incidents and possible cases of errors or complications in the process.

“From the National Primary Commission and the Support Commission for Voting Abroad, we invite all Venezuelans outside the country to find out about how to use the web application to update their data, reviewing infographics, video and other resources that we have developed so that this number grows, guaranteeing the greatest possible participation of Venezuelans abroad for the Primary Election. In this step-by-step material that we have begun to disseminate, you will find the instructions to upload your photos correctly in the system, for example,” stressed Pérez Vigil.

The members of the Support Commission for Voting Abroad emphasize that the web update system is being permanently monitored and for this they have the support, at certain moments, of observer organizations such as the Electoral Observation Network of the Assembly of Education, the Venezuelan Electoral Observatory and Electoral Transparency.

For their part, the technical advisors of the Primary School recommend that the users of this data update platform follow the instructions precisely to upload their information, that they check the “spam” tray of their emails in case they do not receive the verification to the main tray and, finally, to retry the process from scratch if the system were to reject them, making the corrections step by step.

The data update process so that Venezuelans abroad can vote on October 22 in the Primary Election to choose a candidate for the Presidency in 2024, will be active until July 7 until 11:59 pm.
