With the visit of more than 20,000 people, the photographic exhibition “Glory and Honor” ended this Wednesday at the Auditorium Theater in Mar del Plata, to start its traveling mode, which covers the Argentine path towards obtaining the 2022 Soccer World Cup. carried out by the Télam news agency and the Buenos Aires Institute of Culture.
“Glory and Honor” is an exhibition for which 35 photographs were selected with the best moments experienced in the World Cup, which covers the arduous Argentine path to victory in Qatar: from the disappointment against Saudi Arabia to the heroic coronation of the penalty shootout against France.
The proposal adds a recognized tribute to “the kids from Malvinas that I will never forget” and one of the fragments of “Boys, now we got excited again”, the musical hit that incorporated the heroes of the war in the South Atlantic to the encouragement of the argentinian players.
The exhibition was inaugurated on January 26, with free admission, by the president of the Télam agency, Bernarda Llorente, in the Paseo de la Imagen I and II of the Teatro Auditórium, where, for more than a month, , was visited by more than 20,000 people.
The Undersecretary of Cultural Policies of the Cultural Institute of the province of Buenos Aires, Victoria Onetto, told Télam: “The exhibition played an essential role in the series of cultural and artistic proposals promoted by the Provincial Center for the Arts Theater Auditorium within the framework of the 2023 season”.
“This exhibition, made up of 35 photographs with great moments of the World Cup, aroused enormous enthusiasm and emotion in all the people of Buenos Aires who came to visit it on the Paseo de la Imagen” highlighted Onetto, who added: “I congratulate the photographers for having captured these moments full of illusion and emotion that all Argentines will treasure in our hearts.
For her part, the manager of Institutional Relations of Télam, Daniela Basso, announced that the exhibition “From now on it will form part of the national program ‘the State in the neighborhoods’, so, initially, it will have a presentation in the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.”
“It will also tour the interior of our country, where it will be displayed in the form of external panels to be enjoyed and observed by the eyes of all Argentines,” Basso pointed out.
“Gloria y Honor” collects some of the images of the Argentine national team, obtained by Fernando Gens and Maximiliano Luna, the photojournalists sent by Télam to cover the Qatar 2022 Soccer World Cup.
And, at the same time, the popular fervor that the soccer players aroused throughout Argentina, under the gaze of fellow photojournalists Cristina Sille, Sebastián Granata, Claudio Fanchi, Eliana Obregón and Pepe Mateos.
In addition, it presents eight images of Malvinas made by photojournalists Román Von Eckstein and Eduardo Farré, war correspondents for the agency in 1982, which make up “The photos recovered from Malvinas”, another of the exhibitions launched by Télam during 2022 and which has been touring various cities in the country.
