Some 20 people were apprehended this Thursday during the Harry and Ryoshi operations, the authorities of the Public Ministry and the National Police reported, assuring that these people are linked to drug-related crimes and scams in West Panama and San Miguelito.

During the first operation, called “Harry”, 10 people were arrested, including the head of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, and 33,000 dollars in cash were seized.

According to drug prosecutor Xiomara Rodríguez, this criminal organization’s “modus operandi” was to meet and communicate by telephone to coordinate the logistics of its illicit activities. In addition, they used several companies under the guise of corporations with a commercial reason for transporting containerized cargo, thus facilitating entry to the different ports of the country where they moved the drug.

This group is linked to the seizure of more than a ton of drugs in the provinces of Coclé, Panamá Oeste and Colón.

Regarding the “Ryoshi” operation, he explained that 10 people allegedly linked to the crime against economic assets in the aggravated modality were apprehended, of which five people were apprehended in the province of Panama Oeste, three in the district of San Miguelito, one in the district of Panama and another in East Panama.
