The Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, reported on Sunday, December 11, that in the context of the International Transport Expo, which takes place in the Simón Bolívar park in La Carlota, at least 24 investment agreements were signed in this sector.

However, no further details were known about these agreements.

He also announced that, thanks to the “success” of this event, which was extended until Tuesday, December 13.

He stated that this is a scenario that allows the economic growth of the country.

The International Transport Expo, which opened its doors on Friday, December 9, has received more than 100,000 visitors, who were attended by the 350 exhibitors who attended the event in order to publicize their products and participate in business conferences promoted by the Executive.

Meanwhile, in Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) it was reported that only the air sector, which in 2022 doubled its activities compared to 2021, “has completed more than 24 agreements that will allow the aeronautical system to be repowered.”

“Public and private companies from Asia, the Middle East and South America participated in the activity, with which commercial exchanges will be carried out and more than 60 high-impact investment projects for national development are expected to be carried out,” according to the channel Condition.

The transport activity contrasts with the figure exposed by the Chamber of Venezuelan Manufacturers of Automotive Products (Favenpa) to mid-November, when its president, Omar Bautista, revealed that from January to October 2022 only 62 cars were assembled; mainly chassis for buses and trucks, but not passenger or rustic.

He reiterated that the automotive sector is maintained by the sale of spare parts, which is currently diminished due to the fact that imported spare parts and similar to those manufactured in the country currently proliferate in the market, but which in the end are cheaper for the end customer because they do not pay taxes or other national regulations and that in the long run affect the industry.
