During the last week of July, 22 earthquakes were registered in Venezuela, according to a report of the Venezuelan Seismological Service (SSV). In this sense, the Venezuelan Seismological Research Foundation (Funvisis) details that 16 of these events occurred in the western region, specifically in the Lara state, while the remaining six were located in the Sucre state, in the towns of Irapa and Macuro, whose magnitude ranged between 2.2 and 3.9.
It is important to note that Venezuela, like other nations in the world and Latin America, is a territory with a tendency to high seismic intensity, because the tectonic plaques of South America and the Caribbean converge, in addition to the failures it presents in Boconó, El Pilar and San Sebastián.
Also, these almost imperceptible movements do not represent a threat, so far for the country.
