Some 2,040 people have been immunized against cholera at the different vaccination posts prioritized in the country, as reported on Wednesday by Dr. Lucia Vargas (Luchy), director of Immunopreventables by Vaccines of the Ministry of Public Health.

He explained that the community members of these sectors have the vaccines available at the Directorate of Area I: in the Tent of the Diagnostic Center of Villa Liberación, house-to-house vaccination in buildings, the Republic of Nicaragua Basic School, Juan De Los Santos Polytechnic School, in the Republic of Japan, Mercedes, Luisa Ramírez and Juan Pablo Duarte y Díez Educational Centers.
While in the Area IV: Vaccination post in the Zurza mobile hospital tent, at FUNDAZURZA, at the Aida Cartagena Portatín, Mólaco and Solher Schools (evening session).
He added that in the border provinces: Independencia, Dajabón, Pedernales and Elías Piñas, health personnel from hospitals and first-level centers, the military, prisons, municipalities and those who work in aqueducts are being vaccinated.

Four new cases of cholera reported
While the Vice Minister of Collective Health, Eladio Pérez, notified four new cases of cholera, increasing the total number of positive records to 47. At this moment there are 11 admissions for the disease.
I point out that the new infections are located in the communities of El Almirante and Villa Liberaciónthese cases are handled one ambulatory and three are under observation.
Eladio Pérez said that in these cases it is necessary to prevent, for which he reiterated to the population residing in risk areas to go to the vaccination posts, where the immunization day began last week.
“Is It is an oral vaccine, pleasant taste and good tolerance to the organism.it is easy to use and does not require great complexity for storage, and to date no side effects have been reported in any patient,” explained the vice minister.

He recalled that this is a vaccination day that will be focused, prioritizing Health personnel who care for affected patients, residents of the 10 houses near the place where cases have been detected, people with comorbidities, teachers and administrative staff of the schools of said sectors and children with the consent of parents or guardians.
In addition, the entire border area will be protected because it is more vulnerable, military and deprived of liberty due to overcrowding, Public Health personnel who participate in field and laboratory investigations, among others.
