A forest fire that occurred on the night of Carnival Tuesday left damage to 19 hectares of the 41.32 hectares that make up the José Tadeo Arreaza Calatrava park, located in Guanta, a metropolitan area of the Anzoátegui state.
Park rangers reported that at 3 p.m. this Wednesday the fire was completely extinguished.
According to Firefighters reports, in the so-called plant lung of the coastal municipality, 1,800 liters of water were used to put out the fire.
According to information published on its Instagram account, the situation was attended to immediately and work was carried out to contain and extinguish the flames, “thanks to the joint work between Firefighters and Anzoátegui Civil Protection officials, together with security organizations and support teams.”
Regarding the causes of the event, residents of Guanta claim to have seen a flare that they launched during the Carnival parade fall in the park, but the authorities have not reported anything about it.
To put out the flames, officials from the Fire Department, Marine Fire Department, Aeronautical Fire Department and PDVSA, Anzoátegui Civil Protection, Guanta Police, Inparques, Bolivarian National Guard and the regional and municipal police worked in an articulated manner.
For his part, Mayor Yinder Saldivia announced in the early hours of this Wednesday that the fire had been controlled after 7 hours of combat, and that they were in the cooling phase.
