One week after the start of the “Sovereignty Plan”, 17 control operations were carried out, with which more than 15,000 liters of fuel were seized in border areas of the country, reported the director of the National Hydrocarbons Agency, Germán Jiménez.
Representatives from the Ministries of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Defense, the Vice Ministry for the Fight Against Smuggling, the National Hydrocarbons Agency, the National Customs and the Armed Forces participate in this plan, with the aim of preventing diesel volumes from , liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and special gasoline, sold at service stations in the country, are illegally shipped to other countries. “To date we have generated 17 operations with the seizure of 5,000 liters of special gasoline; 10,000 liters of diesel oil and a vehicle with LPG was seized. It was also possible to seize two clandestine fuel tanks that tried to leave through the Strait of Tiquina (La Paz) illegally. We are dealing strong blows to smuggling,” the head of the National Hydrocarbons Agency told the ABI. According to the official, the Bolivian State subsidizes 388 million Bolivians for the sale of fuel at 34 service stations on the borders with Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru.
