More than 150,000 irregular migrants were detected last year by the authorities of the National Border Service (Senafront) and the National Migration Service entering the country through the border area with Colombia.

For his part, the general director of Senafront, Oriel Ortega, stressed that among the migrants detected, they have detained many of the criminal groups that operate in the border area with Colombia, managing to reduce the crimes of theft, rape and even drug trafficking, human trafficking and drug trafficking. people.
The authorities called on migrants to use regular and legal channels to enter the country and thus avoid being victims of scams, abandonment by coyotes and other crimes that can be generated through irregular entry at the borders.
