The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City announced the deployment of 14,467 troops as part of the “Operational Three Kings Day 2025”with the aim of guaranteeing the safety and well-being of the inhabitants and visitors of the capital during this traditional celebration.
Reinforced surveillance throughout the city
The operation, which began in the early hours of Friday, January 3 and will conclude at the end of the activities on Monday, January 6includes the participation of 1,070 vehicles, five cranes, 12 ambulances, 10 motor ambulances from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squadron (ERUM), and a helicopter from the General Directorate of Cóndores Air Services.
The SSC will carry out supervision and prevention tasks in the 16 municipalities, with special emphasis on:
- Shopping malls and department stores.
- Restaurant areas, parks and recreation centers.
- Tourist corridors and areas with high commercial activity.
- Metro Stations, Metrobús and Modal Transfer Centers (CETRAM).
- Road control and permanent monitoring
The Undersecretary of Traffic Control will implement devices to facilitate vehicular and pedestrian mobility, prevent theft of vehicles and auto parts, and assist citizens in cases of road emergency.
Simultaneously, the operators of the Command and Control Centers (C2) and the Control, Command, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C5) will carry out constant monitoring with video surveillance cameras to identify and respond to any incident.
Recommendations for citizens
The SSC has issued a series of recommendations to prevent incidents during this season:
- Use reliable electronic payment methods and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
- Do not lose sight of bank cards when making payments and avoid ATMs with anomalies.
- Verify with the banking institution any unrecognized charges.
- Make purchases and withdrawals in the company of someone else.
