The Vietnam Red Cross campaign has collected more than 13 million dollars until August 19 to support Cuba, exceeding the initial goal five times.
Under the name “65 years of Vietnam-Cuba solidarity”, the collection gathered 341.1 billion dongs (about 13.12 million dollars) until 11:00 am on Tuesday, according to Latin press
Among the contributions, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, donated by Fidel Castro in 1973 and opened in 1981 to serve soldiers and populations affected by war.
According to PL, the Vietnamese news agency (VNA) also added, urging its staff to participate in this initiative that commemorates historical ties between both nations.
On the third day of the campaign, a total of 9.6 million dollars had been raised.
