More than 12,000 professional fishermen’s licenses registered in the General Registry of Fishing Activity were suspended this Tuesday (31) by determination of the Secretariat of Aquaculture and Fisheries, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
The suspensions, published in the Official Diary of the Union this Tuesday, took place after analysis of possible data reinsertion into the system, in addition to evidence of fraud and irregularities. The measure follows the recommendations of the control bodies.
In the last three years, there were more than 67 thousand irregular licenses suspended and about 39 thousand cancelled.
Those who had their license suspended will have a period of 60 days to file an administrative appeal against the decision, electronically, on the portal gov.br. The resource must contain documents proving personal data and fishing activity, in addition to the information contained in the computerized system of the Fishing Activity Registry. Fishermen who have the resources served will have their licenses reactivated.
