More than 10,300 users registered in the first virtual reality job fair created by ITLA

Santo Domingo. – More than 10,300 users registered until this Wednesday at the “Metaempleo ITLA 2022” job fair, in which 6,950 vacancies were enabled in 654 types of available positions.

“I always said that the best social program was employment,” said President Luis Abinader, leading the launch of this fair in which more than 350 national and international companies participate.

On stage, the president reiterated his support for the Technological Institute of the Americas, ITLAas part of its commitment to higher technical education and technological training, as it is one of the main areas demanded by the national and international industry at present and in the future.

He added that this new platform has the potential to become a robust ecosystem that could allow the government to obtain consolidated data on vacancies in the public and private sectors, allowing it to determine the needs of the labor sector.

In the same way, he said that he will continue to support and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship because “with the efficient use of technology we can contribute to great changes and carry out multiple tasks that will continue to strengthen the growth of the industry in the Dominican Republic.”

At the end of his words, he called on young people to continue training to transform not only their lives, but also the entire nation.

Organized by ITLA, through this new multidimensional and immersive experience that mixes virtual reality and physical reality, these thousands of users can apply for vacancies without going anywhere, entering the institute’s website from their cell phones, computer or other device with internet.

It is taking place this November 16 and 17 and is open to the general public.

The rector of ITLA, Omar Méndez Lluberes, expressed that President Abinader is the first to provide a high level of support to this institution and added that it is an extraordinary event that for the first time puts into practice a virtual space to facilitate access to employment. and expedites the documentation process, both for the applicant and employer.

It is also the first metaverse job fair held in the country, consisting of a post-reality universe in which virtual reality and augmented reality converge.

Among the more than 350 participating companies are the Dominican National Brewery, Banco Popular Dominicano, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Concentrix, Data Vimenca, Grupo Puntacana, Ferretería Ochoa, Banco Santa Cruz, the Las Américas Industrial Free Zone and Claro Dominicana.

Present were the President of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella; the ministers of Industry and Commerce, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó; of Higher Education, Franklin García Fermín; the comptroller general, Catalino Correa; the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa; the senators, for Santo Domingo, Antonio Taveras; for Puerto Plata, Ginette Bournigal and for Samaná, Pedro Catrain.
