The proposal focuses on improving learning in a playful setting and promoting socialization through physical and recreational activities.
The general director of Initial and Primary Education, Graciela Fabeyro, explained that the proposal is aimed at children whose attendance has been intermittent during the school year. It is also aimed at those who have detected difficulties in learning, in relationships or on a socio-emotional level.
He highlighted the importance of the program, which, in addition to educational activities, will include walks and aquatic recreation. The hierarch maintained that it will be an “innovative experience” for children.
The intention, according to Fabeyro, is for students to have access to a different experience from that of the “classic school year” and all learning is approached from the playful dimension, in a different environment of socialization.
The program will take place between January 9 and February 10, with the exception of the department of Maldonado, which began the activity on January 2. In that area, a joint proposal is being developed with the departmental administration, which finances food and part of the staff.
Currently, the General Directorate of Initial and Primary Education (DGEIP) has more than 10,000 children registered to participate, and those who wish to do so can register at their educational center of concurrence. Summer Schools will be held in 158 schools across the country.
Some 700 people will work in the program, including teachers, teachers, cafeteria and cleaning staff.
