The heavy rainfall registered during the early hours of this Monday left impassable streets and flooded homes in various neighborhoods of the municipality of four glens. The affected residents are urgently requesting the intervention of the municipal and departmental authorities.
Among the hardest hit neighborhoods are Inti Raymi, Monsignor, Magisterium and New Hope, which have been practically isolated from the rest of the municipality due to the overflow of water and the lack of accessibility.
Faced with this critical situation, the Mayor’s Office of Cuatro Cañadas has taken measures to transfer the affected families to safe places. In that sense, the Municipal Coliseum has become a shelter for approximately 100 affected families.
“We are going through a critical moment due to the intense rains and floods that we have experienced in Cuatro Cañadas. The water has reached unprecedented levels, affecting numerous families and neighborhoods, especially in five areas that have suffered a significant impact. We are prioritizing evacuation of one of the neighborhoods to guarantee the safety and preserve the lives of its inhabitants. Our entire municipal team is fully mobilized and working tirelessly to provide the necessary assistance,” said municipal secretary Bernardino Pereira.
Macario Carvajal, a resident of the Monseñor neighborhood, shared his concern about the situation: “We are all affected, we can no longer enter our homes and the water level continues to rise alarmingly. We sincerely hope that the authorities find a quick solution, since the drain is not working properly. We have woken up underwater and the loss has been totalwe had to go out with what we had on”.
Luis Santos, another resident of the Monseñor neighborhood, expressed the desperation and need they face: “In our neighborhood, more than 20 families are suffering the ravages of these floods. We make an urgent call to the departmental authorities to provide us with food and help to evacuate our belongings, since it is difficult for us to acquire the necessary resources to face this situation.”
