In addition to the estimated loss of R$300,000, SuperVia reported that the theft caused inconvenience to passengers. According to the concessionaire, passengers on the Belford Roxo branch need to wait longer at the station, in addition to changing trains in Madureira to get to the city center.

“SuperVia regrets the inconvenience, but the measure is necessary for the dealership’s technical team to attempt to carry out the necessary repairs with the aim of fully reestablishing operations. There is still no forecast for normalization of the service due to the lack of security in the region of the incident. The company reinforces that security is a non-negotiable value and adopts all possible measures to guarantee the integrity of its customers and employees”, informed the company, in a note, highlighting that at least 1,500 people (or around a third of the normal volume of the branch) stopped using the trains.
