More Panamanians join the free candidacy, there are already six who aspire to the presidency

Lawyer Eduardo Quirós and former president of the Editorial Group El Siglo y La Estrella presented, before the Electoral Court (TE), this Tuesday, July 5, his credentials to run as a presidential candidate for free candidacy in the May 2024 elections.

The lawyer assured that regarding the financing of his campaign, he will abide by what the TE establishes regarding donations and said that he will look for those who wish to support him and believe in his proposal.

This Tuesday, former deputy Katleen Levy also revealed her intentions to run for the presidency independently, through a letter.

he is contemplating running for the Presidency of the Republic through free candidacy.

Levy said that on July 20 he will make and announce his decision, assuring that within the Panamanian party they are being suffocated.

“The rules are not clear within the Panameñista Party. If I am going to participate in the primaries or I am going to dare to look for the signatures by free application, I still do not know, anything can happen”, he expressed in a political meeting.

According to the TE, until July 4, 118 people have presented their credentials to be recognized as pre-candidates by free application, of which, with Quirós’s application, 6 are for president, 63 are for corregimiento representatives, 40 for deputies and 10 for mayor.
