MORE: Nicolás Maduro has an economic debt and does not show interest in solving it

María Verdeal MAS

The MAS is concerned that the discussion of the reform of electoral laws is taking place with only one political sector of society and that the others are excluded; Therefore, it requests that the call be expanded because “it is a topic of national interest.”

The vice president of the Movement towards Socialism (MAS), María Verdeal, believes that the national government must face the economic crisis that Venezuelans are experiencing. He says that the situation of public services, wage demands and the exchange rate differential are urgent issues to resolve.

“The government of President Nicolás Maduro has a large debt with Venezuelans and seems to have no interest in solving it,” says Verdeal.

In the same way, he assures: “We are not forgetting what happened on July 28, but it is up to high power to respond to the numerous problems of Venezuelan society” and remembers that the authorities have been justifying their inaction with sanctions for many years. that weigh on the country.

The MAS also shows concern about the exchange rate differential between the price of the dollar at the rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and the free market, where it exceeds the official rate by almost Bs 10 and the installation of Seniat modules to force merchants to charge their products at the BCV rate.

María Verdeal explains that merchants must replace merchandise, that they buy it at the parallel dollar rate and that the consequences are paid by consumers; To which is added that some establishments do not accept bolivars.

«There is a distortion in the economy that has been dragging on for a long time due to a failed and obsolete model and in view of the ‘advance’ of Christmas, the fractional bonuses, which are also from hunger, are not even enough to buy half a kilo of cheese,” adds the MAS leader.

Electoral reform

The vice president of the MAS party is concerned that the discussion of the reform of electoral laws is taking place with only one political sector of society and that the others are excluded; Therefore, it requests that the call be expanded because “it is a topic of national interest.”

In his opinion, the reform project must evaluate several matters, including the proportional representation of minorities, the financing of political parties, the elimination of indefinite reelection and the return of bicameralism.

In this same sense, the MAS rejected the proposals of deputy Saúl Ortega to disqualify political parties and to withdraw the nationality of those who have caused damage to the nation: «A legal reform cannot occur with threats. Democracy is strengthened with a system of political parties and not with some kind of friends club,” Verdeal insists.
