The Minister of Public Works of Panama, Raphael Sabongeaffirmed that the solution to the problem of plugs in the cities of Latin America involves investment in public infrastructure such as subway, cable cars, road education and maintenance.
Interviewed exclusively by Free DailyThe Panamanian official said that countries like the Dominican Republic, Panama and others in Latin America and the Caribbean are very similar in terms of culture and infrastructure investment issues.
“Greater investments can be made in road maintenance issues to avoid accidents due to this type of situation, always hand in hand with private companies to encourage investment in public infrastructure, always thinking of improving the quality of the road network,” he said.
He stated that the traffic accidents they increase as countries grow, as cities grow and become populated, and he insisted that these situations originate as cities grow.
Sabonge affirmed that, in order to avoid traffic congestion, in the real future, the construction of infrastructures for the transport massive and said that in the case of Panama it is in the phase of beginning a third line of the Subway Currently, and since 2014, it transports around 500,000 people and with the new work they expect to increase between 700,000 and 750,000 passengers per day.
