The breakdowns have returned to the Cuban thermoelectric. If there was no units disconnected out of those that have long been for repairs, in recent days there are several blocks that have stopped working.
Throughout the week They suffered stops Units 1 of Santa Cruz del Norte, 5 of the Mariel and 6 of Nuevitas, and although they synchronized again in a short time they increased in itself high electrical deficit during their disconnection and, consequently, aggravated the blackouts.
This Thursday Already those three plants had worked again, which – united to other variables – led to the Electric Union (UNE) to estimate a maximum affectation of 1530 MW, lower in almost 200 MW than the previous day. However, again the prognosis was below reality.
The affectation, in practice, climbed “above the planned” until 1611 MW at 10:00 at night, a fact that UNE blamed it at the exit of two other thermoelectric units: the 5 of Nuevitas and the 3 of Renté, in Santiago de Cuba.
Both appear reported today In a breakdown, but with them there is also the 8 of the Mariel, which the day before was not mentioned among the disconnected, so it must have suffered a breakage at some point on yesterday’s day.
They are joined by Felton’s 2, stopped for more than three years after suffering a fire, as well as the 2 of Santa Cruz del Norte, the 4 of Cienfuegos and the 5 of Renté, subjected to long maintenance and whose reincorporation has remained dilated beyond the initial forecasts.
None of these sietes plants plan to synchronize today, according to the UNE part.
Another high deficit
The disconnected thermal blocks are joined by 57 distributed generation centrals stops due to lack of fuel, which will mean 368 MW less during the day. Of these 50 MW they must recover for the night peak.
Meanwhile, thermal limitations amount to 340 MW.
With this scenario, at 6:00 am the generation deficit affectation was 1175 MW, a figure that must descend slightly to 1100 MW, a time slot in which the new solar parks must provide their maximum power.
For the night, the planned availability is 2050 MW and the estimated affectation will rise to 1720 MW.
It is a figure, which although it is not yet approached to the peaks above 2000 MW weeks ago, it is an important deficit in the country and will translate into another day of long blackouts for most Cubans.
