The Moral Branch made up of the Attorney General’s Office, the Comptroller’s Office and the Ombudsman’s Office completed its evaluation of the list of applications for magistracies of the Supreme Court of Justice made up of more than 400 applicants.
At a press conference, the comptroller general, Elvis Amoroso, pointed out that since last week the document delivered by the National Assembly (AN) is being worked on and reviewed.
“Venezuela should feel proud, there is no country in the world that has a system for evaluating magistrates, for candidates for the highest court, like we have,” Amoroso said.
In this sense, he pointed out that the list will be delivered to the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, as well as to the members that make up the Parliament’s Nominations Committee.
“We are in the stage that corresponds to the Republican Moral Council, which has been taking place over the past week and this weekend. We have also agreed that this list will be delivered to the president of the AN, his board of directors and the committee that evaluated the credentials », he stressed.
On February 4, the Judicial Nominations Committee began the public call for the pre-selection process of eligible candidates. This process lasted 53 days.
Subsequently, on March 15, the Committee delivered the list to the Republican Moral Branch for evaluation.
On the other hand, the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, stressed that these actions seek to strengthen institutions.
“This is not an automatic, mechanical fact, but rather forms part of an action established by the 1999 constituent, in which the constitutional counterweight between the five national public powers, the Executive, Legislative, Judicial, Citizen and Electoral, was clearly established. . The counterweight has been the strength for democracy to have advanced during these more than 20 years of resistance », he pointed out.
