The decision weighs on “all types of weapons carrying, as well as the transport of weapons and ammunition by collectors, shooters and hunters”, wrote Moraes. Anyone who disrespects the order should be arrested in flagrante delicto for illegally carrying weapons, ordered the minister.

He responded to a request made by the Federal Police, which pointed out the need to guarantee public order after extremist acts committed by people who did not accept the result of the presidential election.

Yesterday (28), the future Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said that he would also ask the Supreme Court to suspend the carrying of weapons during the inauguration of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, scheduled for January 1st.

In the request, the PF pointed to inquiries that investigate the financing and execution of violent acts by extremist groups, as well as the performance of digital militias that inflate voters through the distribution of false news and disinformation.

The PF described in the request the attack on the headquarters of the institution itself, after the arrest of indigenous leader José Acacio Xerere Xavante, a supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro, at the beginning of the month, and also the attempted bomb attack revealed with the arrest of suspect George Washington by Oliveira Sousa, in December, 24.

In this decision fourthOn Thursday (28), Moraes lamented the practice of acts that could be classified as crimes against the democratic rule of law by extremist groups.

“Unfortunately, extremist groups – financed by unscrupulous businessmen, criminally and fraudulently exploiting the good faith of several voters, mainly with the use of cowardly digital militias and under the connivance of certain public authorities, whose responsibility for omission or connivance will be investigated – comes practicing acts expressly typified, both in Law No. 14,197, of September 1, 2021, relating to crimes against the Democratic State of Law, and in Law No. 13,260, of March 162016, which regulates the provisions of item XLIII of article 5 of the Federal Constitution, disciplining the fight against terrorism, including punishing preparatory acts”, wrote the minister.

The temporary suspension of carrying firearms does not apply to members of the Armed Forces, members of the Unified Public Security System (SUSP), members of the Legislative and Judicial Police and private security and value transport companies.
