Moraes maintains conviction of a woman who spotted statue on January 8

Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) decided on Monday (18) to maintain the decision of the first class of the court that condemned the hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos.Moraes maintains conviction of a woman who spotted statue on January 8

In April of this year, Deborah was sentenced to 14 years in prison for participating in scammer acts of January 8, 2023 and for pending the phrase “lost, Mané” in the statue the court, located in front of the STF headquarters building.

Moraes denied appeal presented by Deborah’s defense. The minister quoted that the hairdresser is not entitled to so -called infringing embargoes, an appeal that allows the revision of the sentence for defendants who obtained at least two votes in favor of acquittal. In the trial, the score of the conviction was 4 votes to 1.

“Thus, it is only one vote overdue by partial acquittal, as shown. In addition, the vote overdue exclusively regarding the dosimetry of the penalty does not constitute divergence that may oppose infringing embargoes,” said Moraes.

With the end of the trial, the hairdresser is convicted of the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup, armed criminal association, qualified damage and deterioration of the overturned heritage.

The next step will be the execution of the conviction. Since March of this year, Deborah has been home to house arrest for having minor children.
