Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), said on Thursday (24) had no doubt that former President Jair Bolsonaro violated the ban on using social networks, but that the episode was punctual and would not be enough to decree pre-trial detention.
Moraes pointed out for the publication of licensed deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro on the social network Facebook, made moments after a trip of the former president to Congress, where Bolsonaro showed the electronic anklet that he was forced to use and made statements to the press.
“In the present hypothesis, in the conveying social networks of speech by Jair Messias Bolsonaro in the deputy chamber of his son, also investigated, moments after the event, there is an attempt to circumvent the precautionary measure,” Moraes wrote.
The minister reiterated that “there is no doubt that there was a breach of the imposed precautionary measure, since the social networks of the investigated Eduardo Nantes Bolsonaro were used in favor of Jair Messias Bolsonaro within the illicit modus operandi already described.”
However, Moraes stated that the violation was “isolated”, without news of other breaches. He also said he took into consideration Bolsonaro’s explanations. The lawyers denied any intention of the former president of violating precautionary measures and stated that he “has been strictly observing the imposed rules of collection.”
