After the sudden suspension of the XVI session of the dialogue table to address the serious contamination of the Coralaque river basin convened by the presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), the authorities of Moquegua, headed by the regional governor Gilia Gutiérrez Ayala, met Thursday with provincial mayors, district and representatives of civil society, to define firm actions before the breach of the executive.
During the meeting, it was unanimously agreed to demand from the PCM the immediate call of the dialogue table for August 14 in Lima, with the aim of guaranteeing the direct participation of the President of the Council of Ministers and the headlines of the health, environment, housing, agriculture, production, production, energy and mines, and economy and finance sectors.

“If the ministers do not come to Moquegua, we will go to Lima. But this time, they must face and assume their commitments with concrete results,” said Governor Gilia Gutiérrez, stressing that this will be “the last chance” for the National Executive to expose the progress of the multisectoral plan approved months ago and currently without visible results.
In addition, they validated to leave the right of civil society, to self -state of preventive force measures, in support of the efforts of their authorities and the platform of their social demands.
Ten years of environmental problem
Likewise, the legal teams of the participating institutions were authorized to evaluate the corresponding legal actions against the obvious breach of agreements adopted by the Executive.
The Regional Authority was emphatic in remembering that the problem of the Coralaque River drags more than 10 years of breeding commitments and 16 dialogue sessions without concrete responses to mitigate an environmental crisis that directly affects the health and development of the Moqueguan communities.
“Mrs. President, her ministers have lied to Moquegua: they have not complied with the agreed, nor in projects for the fishing sector, nor with the financing promised for districts declared in emergency. Today we demand immediate responsibility and action,” said the governor.
