The Minister of Public Works (MOP), Juan Carlos García, announced the freezing of Lanco and La Unión toll rates on Route 5 South in the Los Ríos Region. This measure will allow the rate of $3,200 to be maintained, since if the projected increase for the month of July is applied, the amount would reach $3,400.
“Evaluating the impact of some tolls that are more expensive than others, I want to tell you that the Lanco and La Unión tolls will not be readjusted in July and the current value will be maintained, to relieve people’s pockets and also give them a better price.” little bit of justice to this region. So in July there will be no increase in these tolls,” said Minister García.
In addition to this, the Secretary of State added that a group of residents of the Choroico Sector will also benefit from the measure, since they will not have to pay tolls in case of returning to the north. “This is something that happens in different places in Chile where tolls were installed without considering the transit of people who live in those places. That is something we want to change, in this case we are going to improve the T-706 road so that people can travel freely without having to pay tolls, this is something fair, they do not have to pay tolls if they live in that place,” he said. Minister Garcia.
The improvement works of the T-706 road will be executed through the Highway Directorate and will consider works in the road, sanitation and road safety folder.
Finally, it is necessary to specify that this initiative is added to the reduction in the Itata toll in the Biobío Region, announced on October 25 by the Minister of Public Works, since it was considered the “most expensive in Chile”.
