The Montevideo Industrial Laboratory held 75 years adding a new section of technological advances to its services. A new section has now been added to the analyzes of food, water, electrical items, toys and calibrations, which certifies the energy efficiency of thermo tanks and refrigerators.

The company recently opened the new energy efficiency testing laboratory with the presence of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, and the ministers Javier García (Defense) and Fernando Mattos (Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries). Until now, this type of laboratory for refrigerators did not exist in Uruguay, so the Uruguayan companies that needed test your products they had to send them to Argentina, Brazil or Chile. The laboratory will allow the necessary analyzes for the mandatory certification labeling to be carried out.

In that sense, its general manager, Dario Soares de Lima, valued: “Today we take a step towards energy efficiency. we are one warranty for products entering Uruguay, and we are guarantors of our products to export markets. It also allows Uruguay to access new markets or improve prices because they are products with proven quality.” “It positions us very well,” predicted Soares de Lima, who reported that the company currently works with some 1,600 clients a year.

Although the central task of the company is microbiology and chemical tests for food safety, in the last six years the laboratory has expanded the field of toy safety tests. “Then we add electrical safety, for example plugs, boxes, sockets, lamp holders and calibrations. We rehearse all of this to ensure that all regulations are met,” explained one of its directors, Soledad Colom.
