Monsignor Ulloa will attend the funeral of Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican City

The Panamanian Episcopal Conference reported this Saturday that Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, Metropolitan Archbishop of Panama and José Luis Cardenal Lacunza, Bishop of David, will attend the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who died at the age of 95, this Saturday in Vatican City.

“The Panamanian Episcopal Conference, upon hearing the news of the departure to Eternal Jerusalem of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, this December 31, 2022, expresses its condolences to his relatives and to Pope Francis,” he mentioned through a statement.

The Panamanian bishops request that, in all the country’s parishes from today until the day of the funeral, the following prayer be included in the intentions: “For our Pope Emeritus Benedict, so that the God of Life may receive him in his Eternal House, in merit of his love, fidelity, humility and courage in the service of the Church of Jesus Christ”.

The emeritus pope’s funeral is scheduled for next January 5, in St. Peter’s Square.
