Monsignor Rafael Felipe, bishop emeritus of Barahona, dies

The Catholic church announced this Thursday the death of Monsignor Rafael Felipe Núñezbishop emeritus of the Diocese of the province Barahona.

The religious died at 87 years of age, at 11:44 at night from yesterday Wednesday, in the Archdiocese of the Santiago province of the Knights.

  • Since several days monsignor presented health problems that motivated his hospitalization.

Monsignor Núñez is remembered in the Catholic Church for his extensive pastoral work and for his dedicated service to the communities in the south of the country, where he served for years as bishop of Barahona.

Funeral services

For this Thursday December 11the body of Monsignor Felipe will be exposed from 9:00 in the morning at the Saint Pius X Seminaryin Santiago.

At 2:00 in the afternoon will be held Eucharist in his honor and at 3:30 pm the transfer of remains to the diocese of Barahona.

He Friday December 12at 10:00 in the morning, the funeral mass in the Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedralwhere he will later receive a Christian burial in the crypt of the temple.
