The auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Managua, Monsignor Silvio José Báez, called on the Church to look towards Nicaragua in the face of the religious persecution of which the priests, bishops, the parishioners and the Nicaraguan people are victims. In a message posted on his Twitter account, the cardinal begged for prayers, closeness and denunciation of the repressive acts of the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.

“I condemn the cowardly and vile persecution of the Nicaraguan dictatorship against the Catholic Church. The Church of the whole world must turn its eyes towards my country. We need the prayer, closeness and denunciation of the whole Church. I beg you from the bottom of my heart: Do not abandon us! », Monsignor Báez wrote on his social network profile.

The priest Sebastián López, parish priest of Santa Lucía in Ciudad Darío, department of Matagalpa, officiated the morning mass this Tuesday, August 16, in the atrium of the Church he administers, in the face of the police siege.
